Antique J&M P Bell \"Triumphal Car\"Porcelain Blue and White Footed Punch Bowl PAIR Very Rare!
From an interested party Ireceived this helpful information... \"Triumphal Car\" was produced but the J & M P Bell & Co. which was in operation from 1842-1928 in Glasgow, Scotland. The listing forthepattern in the Transferware Collectors Club database notes that \"Triumphal Car\" is recorded asbeing made both between 1842-1880 and 1881-1912\" I bought these from the estate of one of my former college professors who had marked them \"Staffordshire c1800\". I\'m not sure of the marks. These are ingreat condition for their age. There is a hairline crack in the glaze of the taller one. The shorter of the two has some discoloration on the outside as seen in the photos. These are identical asfar as pattern is concerned. Transfer ware of various Greek or Roman scenes consisting of gladiators, pipers, cupids, fountains, palm trees. The color on both is the same. They both haveslightly fluted rims and the bases are fluted somewhat as well. They are very nearly exactly the same in size. One is 5 1/4\" H and the other is 5 1/2\". One is 9 3/4 in diameter, the other is 10\". Ships insured.
