Antique Art Nouveau Brass Desk Inkwell & Pen Tray - Figural Birds Nest, 1900's For Sale

An antique Art Nouveau desktop inkwell stand dating from the late 19th to early 20th century (circa 1895-1910). Cast in brass, this piece features a sculpted figural bird on a nest serving as the functional finial handle on the hinged inkwell lid. The body flows seamlessly into the sweeping pen tray with scrollwork and foliate motifs. From cursory research this style of figural desk sets was a hallmark of fine French and Italian decorative foundries of the period.
Condition: Great antique condition! Hinged lid is intact and functions well. Original insert is free of any flaws. There is a bit of white residue where someone may have painted as it doesn't appear to have been polished as it has aged patina. No Marks.
Measurements: Overall approximately 9 inches long by 3 inches at widest and 2-3/4 inches tall.
