Offered is an authentic Anton Reiche commercial chocolate mold featuring a detailed standing elephant, manufactured in Dresden, Germany. This original tin mold is marked ANTON and bears pattern number 6876, with individual half numbers 40 and 52. The mold measures approximately 3 inches long by 2 inches tall and includes its original metal spring clip.
Please note: While both halves are genuine Anton Reiche and are the correct 6876 elephant pattern, they are not the original factory-matched pair, as the individual half numbers differ (40 and 52). They fit together properly and were likely paired during years of commercial use, a practice not uncommon in working confectioneries.
This mold comes from my grandmother’s candy store, Jerry’s Confectionary in Buffalo, New York, where it was used in commercial chocolate production during the 1960s and 1970s before remaining in our family’s collection. Although the mold itself was manufactured earlier, its documented provenance adds to its history and appeal.
The mold retains a beautiful aged patina with expected signs of commercial use, including surface scratches, finish wear, oxidation, and light rust on the spring clip.
