Antique Ansonia Clock Co. “Plymouth” 8-day time-and-strike mantel/parlor clock, manufactured in New York, U.S.A., and dating to approximately the 1890s. Working and Extensively Tested.
This is an especially attractive smaller architectural Ansonia featuring a triangular pediment, warm wood case, ornate applied metal decorations, decorative metal dial surround and a signed porcelain/enamel dial.
The clock retains extensive Ansonia identification. The dial bears the Ansonia diamond-A trademark and is marked “Made by Ansonia Clock Co. New York, U.S.A.” The brass movement is also stamped “Ansonia Clock Co. New York U.S.A.” with the Ansonia trademark.
Importantly, the clock retains its original interior paper label identifying “PLYMOUTH” and “EIGHT DAY.” The label has been left untouched and preserved as part of the clock’s history.
The clock:

This clock was not simply wound briefly to determine whether it would run.
It has been cleaned and oiled, calibrated for timekeeping, run through multiple complete cycles and operated continuously for multiple weeks. During testing it has continued to run, keep time and operate its hour and half-hour strike functions.
Heavy beveled glass crystal
One particularly attractive feature is the substantial beveled dial glass.
The glass measures approximately 4.35–4.4 mm thick and has a pronounced ground and polished bevel around its perimeter.
Its substantial construction, fit and appearance are consistent with period original glass crystal.

Condition
The clock presents very well for its age and retains considerable antique character.
There are expected signs of age and use including finish wear, small scratches, marks, patina and other imperfections consistent with an antique clock dating from the late 19th century.
One piece of decorative wooden molding is missing from the upper portion of the case. This is visible in the photographs and is specifically disclosed so the buyer knows exactly what they are purchasing.
The original interior Plymouth paper label is heavily aged, worn but remains an important surviving identifying feature and has intentionally been left undisturbed.
The porcelain/enamel dial displays very nicely and retains the Ansonia trademark and factory identification.
The decorative metal components and bezel retain attractive age-related patina.

Although this clock has been extensively tested and is operating properly at the time of listing, antique mechanical clocks can require leveling, beat adjustment and/or minor timekeeping adjustment after transportation.
The pendulum will be removed and individually secured for shipping, and the clock will be carefully packed to protect the case, dial, movement and beveled glass.
Performance after shipping cannot be guaranteed without possible adjustment after setup in the buyer’s home.

This is an attractive and increasingly difficult-to-find example of an American Ansonia Plymouth, retaining its signed Ansonia dial, signed movement, surviving Plymouth factory label, pendulum, winding key and substantial beveled glass crystal.
Unlike many antique clocks offered simply as “running,” this example has been cleaned, oiled, calibrated and continuously tested over multiple weeks.
