Offered here is an attractive American Shear & Knife Co. 3-blade Stockman-style pocket knife featuring rich brown jigged bone handles, decorative shield, brass liners and distinctive fancy tipped bolsters.
The knife is clearly marked AMERICAN SHEAR & KNIFE CO. on the tang. American Shear & Knife Co. was a historic Connecticut cutlery maker whose original production dates to the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Based on the markings, construction and overall characteristics, this knife appears consistent with an original period example; however, we are not representing an exact year of manufacture.
The knife features three traditional blades, including a larger clip-point master blade and two smaller secondary blades. The deeply jigged bone handles show attractive brown, amber and golden coloration, with a traditional pinned shield and ornate polished bolsters that give the knife a particularly handsome appearance.
The combination of the early American maker, 3-blade Stockman pattern, jigged bone handles and fancy bolsters makes this a very appealing example for a vintage American pocket knife collection.

Condition
Very good antique condition with evidence of prior cleaning/polishing.
Condition Notes
This knife presents very well for its apparent age. All three blades remain full-looking, with clear tang markings and no obvious major blade loss visible in the photographs.
The blade surfaces show visible finishing, polishing and surface marks consistent with prior cleaning or refinishing. For that reason, we are not representing the blades as retaining untouched factory finish. Light scratches and handling marks are also visible under close inspection and strong lighting.
The brown jigged bone handles display excellent color, depth and character. No obvious major cracks or large chips are visible in the photographs. The shield and bolsters remain attractive, with light surface wear and polishing marks.
The brass liners, springs and interior areas show age-related toning, oxidation and discoloration consistent with an older pocket knife.
