Snaps shut.Interior retains its original metal components bearing a small maker's/manufacturer's stamp of FMGO or FMCOOne of these components is adhered to the locket and the other one has come away from the inside, but is in good condition.This piece has not been metal tested, but it appears Gold filled.Period Masonic/fraternal pieces exist in both precious metal and gold-filled forms.
