Authentic early 20th-century Adams & Westlake (Adlake) Non-Sweating railroad switch / marker lamp. Brass patent plate lists U.S. patents from Oct. 1, 1895 through Aug. 13, 1907 plus Great Britain 1906, and “The Adams & Westlake Co. Chicago New York Philadelphia.”
Features original red and blue Fresnel-style glass lenses which are intact with no major cracks or chips, hinged top with carry handle, and heavy steel construction. Originally a kerosene lamp for railroad switch stands; now electrified with cord and a bulb — lights up nicely as shown (red and blue). I would use modern LED lighting to enhance the brightness and safety of the display.
Shows expected age and service wear: surface rust, paint loss/chips, scuffs, and patina. Structurally solid and displays very well. Measures approximately 14 1/2" tall.
Great decorative piece for railroad collectors, man-cave, industrial décor, or restoration project. Please examine all photos carefully — they are part of the description. Sold as-is. Local pickup preferred if possible due to weight/size; otherwise carefully packed and shipped.
$40.00 for insured shipping.
