Up for sale is an incredibly rare, original late-Victorian pocket advertising booklet and memorandum pad issued by A. B. Blaisdell & Co., "Clothier and Furnisher of Men and Boys," formerly located at 113 Merrimack Street in Haverhill, Massachusetts.
Dating from the circa 1890–1898 era, this antique promotional piece serves as both a miniature retail price catalog and a functional personal notebook for customers. The front cover showcases a detailed period oval portrait of the shop's proprietor, while the inner pages outline the Gilded Age costs of men's overcoats, raincoats, suits, hats, underwear, and custom department garments (offering custom-tailored pants for $5.00 to $15.00). The center of the booklet features a section of clean, lined blank memorandum pages.
The back cover features a magnificent, highly detailed period woodcut engraving of the Blaisdell store's multi-story commercial block building architecture on Merrimack Street, capturing the bustling spirit of Haverhill during its historic industrial boom. An outstanding addition for collectors of vintage New England fashion history, Gilded Age store displays, or Essex County Massachusetts ephemera.
