Rare Antique 19th Century Hand-Embroidered Whitework Flat Sheet**
**Size:** Full / Double Bed Size
**Dimensions:** Approx. 101" x 82" (Extra-Long 101" length allows for a beautiful, deep top fold-over to display the handiwork!)
**Condition:** Exceptional "New Old Stock" (NOS) / Deadstock condition. This sheet is unwashed and crisp, retaining its original antique factory starch sizing.
**Historical Construction & Artisan Craftsmanship:**
* **Authentic Center Seam:** This piece features a classic late-19th/early-20th-century construction where two narrow panels are joined down the middle by a durable flat-felled seam. This indicates the fabric was woven on an early narrow shuttle loom before modern wide looms existed.
* **Woven Selvedge Edges:** The side edges feature clean, beautiful woven selvedges—the classic hallmark of premium antique textile manufacturing.
* **Stunning Hand-Embroidered Whitework:** Features an exquisite, heavy white-on-white botanical spray pattern with elegant satin-stitch floral details running across the top panel.
**Condition Report & Transparency:**
This heirloom sheet came out of a historic Sacramento, California estate sale. It is structurally pristine, exceptionally strong, bright white, and completely unused. To protect its highly collectible "deadstock" value, it has been left completely unlaundered with its original starch intact.
Please note the following minor period-accurate cosmetic details (all clearly pictured next to a penny for scale):
* **Minor Smudges:** There are three very small laundry ink marks/smudges near the hem (typical of historic estate linen tracking systems).
*** Historical Note on Condition:* For those wondering how a sheet can be completely unwashed yet feature historic laundry marks: it was standard practice for 19th-century commercial laundries and large estates to stamp or hand-code new linens *immediately* upon delivery, before their very first use. This sheet was cataloged, marked, and then tucked away into backup storage or a dowry chest where it sat forgotten for over a century—completely bypassing the wash cycle and beautifully preserving its original factory starch!
* **Age Spot:** There is one tiny, pinhead-sized brown age spot (foxing) near the border.
* **Hem Edge:** One edge shows a small section of a historically unpicked or altered hem border.
This is a magnificent, museum-quality piece for collectors of heirloom linens, Victorian/Edwardian bedding, or historical artisan textiles!
