Up for sale is a charming, authentic 19th-century Victorian English Staffordshire pottery miniature cat figurine. Standing at 3 inches tall, this early fairing or market toy features classic sponged/hand-painted calico patches in black and yellow-orange over a white glazed body, seated upon a green-banded oval base.

• This is a genuine early piece crafted by pressing solid clay slabs into a two-part mold rather than modern hollow slip-casting. It has a satisfying, heavy weight relative to its miniature size.
