Antique 19th C Herend Mór Fischer Tureen Blue MF Mark Puce Floral Gilt Porcelain For Sale

Exceptional 19th-century Herend porcelain covered tureen from the historic Mór Fischer era, beautifully hand decorated with monochromatic puce floral bouquets and extensive gilded details.

The underside bears the early underglaze-blue interlinked “MF” monogram associated with Mór (Moritz) Fischer, the influential proprietor who assumed control of the Herend porcelain manufactory in 1839 and established its international reputation during the 19th century. Period objects bearing this historic MF mark are documented in the collection of the Museum of Applied Arts in Budapest.

This unusually elaborate covered serving piece features a deeply lobed and fluted porcelain body, coordinating domed lid, sculptural gilded branch-form handles, richly detailed gilt borders, and an ornate gilded botanical finial surrounded by raised leaves and flowers.

The decoration is particularly striking: hand-painted floral bouquets and scattered sprigs rendered in a rich monochromatic puce/raspberry palette against luminous white porcelain, dramatically accented by gold.

Condition

Remarkably well preserved for a porcelain serving piece of this age. The porcelain body and lid present beautifully, with the hand-painted decoration remaining vivid and exceptionally attractive. There is age-appropriate wear to the gilding, most noticeably on the projecting handles where generations of handling would naturally occur.
