For sale is an authentic late 19th-century Argentine Army Officer's service and dress sword, complete with its original nickel-finished steel scabbard. This scarce historical pattern features a magnificent pierced cast brass half-basket guard bearing the Argentine National Coat of Arms (Escudo Nacional).

• Origin / Model: Late 19th-century regulation pattern for Argentine military officers (pre-1900 era / Model 1898 predecessor), commissioned from European arsenals (Solingen/France) for the Argentine armed forces.
• Guard & Hilt: Heavy cast brass asymmetrical openwork basket guard displaying a finely cast Argentine national crest (clasped hands, pike, Phrygian cap, and rising Sun of May) surrounded by acanthus scrolls and laurel branches. Includes a forward-turned scroll quillon and a fully embossed backstrap. Dark ribbed grip retains its original wire filigree wrap. Firm and tight construction.
• Blade: Robust single-edged carbon steel blade featuring a wide fuller along both faces, tapering to an acute spear point. Retains an honest, dark historical service patina with clear edge lines and no major nicks or bends.
• Scabbard: Original all-steel scabbard with a nickel-plated finish, equipped with two fixed suspension bands with loose carrying rings and a lower drag shoe. The sword sheathes smoothly and securely.
