AUTHENTIC 1930s CZECHOSLOVAKIAN .900 SOLID SILVER POWDER COMPACT

Provenance & Background:This beautiful pre-war antique compact dates from the late Art Deco period (circa 1929–1940). It was personally acquired in Prague during the 1990s and has been carefully kept in a private collection.

Design & Features:

• Front Cover: Elegant, geometric engine-turned plaid/guilloché pattern framed by a scalloped, floral repoussé border.

• Back Cover: Uniform parallel engine-turned lines.

• Interior: Features the original beveled glass mirror, the highly rare original woven mesh powder sifter screen (with pink stitched trim), and the original powder puff.

1. Fiddly Hinge: The hinge is vintage, loose, and a bit fiddly. It does not snap shut seamlessly on its own. It requires a gentle, manually aligned touch to open and close smoothly.

2. Underside Scratch: There is a distinct, visible scratch running across the linear engine-turned pattern on the bottom surface (clearly highlighted in the close-up listing photos).

3. General Wear: Light surface scuffs, natural silver patina, and minor antique wear to the interior elements.

The clasp does catch and hold closed when properly aligned, but due to the delicate nature of the hinge, this piece is strongly recommended as a historic vanity display piece or collection addition rather than a heavy, everyday handbag accessory.
