Antique 1890s Frank Miller Black Harness Soap Wooden Crate w Contents & Ephemera For Sale

This incredibly rare piece of American industrial history dates from the 1890\'s and measures 10\" x 7\" x 9\". This wooden crate by the legendary Frank Miller Company, originally established in 1838, comes with \"New Old Stock\" harness soap and ephemera. This exceptional time capsule documents the company\'s evolution from the horse-and-buggy era into the dawn of the automobile age. The wooden crate shows pristine dovetail/finger-joint construction with two sides showing factory-stenciled lettering and two sides with paper labels showing horse and buggy graphics. The lid retains shipping/transit markings via the historic Pennsylvania Railroad reading \"The W.B. Cleveland P.R.R.\". It includes 5 bars of original, unused cakes of Frank Miller\'s No 1 Black Harness Soap. Four are still in their original wrappers and one has been unwrapped, showing deep, crisp factory pressed lettering reading \"Frank Miller\'s Size No 1 Harness Soap New York\". Remarkably the soap remains stable, intact and still retains its original clean scent profile. Included are an original 1923 Frank Miller\'s Auto Products promotional booklet and its matching factory order postcard (dates Feb 19, 1923) This historical paperwork shows the exact moment the company pivoted from horse tack care to automobile top and leather maintenance. This lot is in exceptional antique condition, The crate is sound with no major warping, splits or structural rot. The paper labels and wrappers show authentic age toning and minor oil spots natural to turn of the century soap storage, but remain entirely legible and stable. The booklet and postcard are fully intact but also show but also show staining from the same soap oils from its 100 year storage in the crate. An really amazing find from a by-gone era that looks great on display!
