This is brand new...never used....still in the original boxThis is an antique jeweler\'s lamp from the late 1800s...probably 1890-1900These types of lamps were used by Jeweler\'s and Watchmakers for various tasks including melting wax and solderingThis lamp was patented on June 26, 1883 by Norman Clark of Sterling, IllinoisBottom of glass is embossed in 3D raised relief....PAT.JUNE 261883The design of this lamp was quite unique....It was designed as an alcohol lamp with a faceted baseThe faceted base allowed the user to position the lamp in various angles depending on the desired flame positionThis was new as prior lamps were round and required a base of some sort to allow positioning of the flameGlass is original...there is at least one bubble embedded in the glass along the top rim area (see photos)Glass has a mold line that runs horizontally along the mid section of the base (see photos)Glass is clear....square base facet measures 1.5\" x 1/5\"The glass is 3.25\" across at its widest point and stands 4.5\" to the top of the wick when uprightLamp itself and wick are in MINT conditionBox shows signs of wear and age...top closure flap is there...but is torn along front edge (see photos)
