⫸DESCRIPTION⫷
This is beautiful antique Victorian era cup & saucer with the most wonderful Aesthetic Movement design. There are sea shells, coral, plants....even little spiders! I have never seen one like this...it's fabulous. There is gold gilding along the rims and cup handle. There isn't a maker's mark, but the underside of both bear a British Pottery Registration Diamond, Mark B, that was used by the British Patent Office between 1842 & 1883 to date ceramic designs. [Mark A was used 1842 to 1867, and after 1883, design registry numbers were used instead of this mark). This mark tells us that the piece was registered February 18, 1881:• IV - Signifies Class IV, meaning the material is ceramic, earthenware, or porcelain• 18 (top) - Represents the day of the month the design was registered• Rd (center) - means "Registered Design"• 3 (left) - bundle parcel number• E (right) - the year the piece was registered. E = 1881• G (bottom) - the month the piece was registered. G = February

Items that are considered "antique" are over 100 years old; items considered "vintage" are over 20 years old. All will rarely be perfect as these jewelry pieces have been worn & loved and will show evidence of that. I always try to note any flaws or issues, but I am human and may miss something....it is never my intention to hide the condition of an item as I do not want anyone to be disappointed with their purchase. People may have different ideas of what they consider acceptable with the condition of their antique or vintage pieces. It is a buyer's responsibility to thoroughly read descriptions, look at pictures & and ask any questions BEFORE purchasing an item. I am always happy to provide additional pictures/info.
