Up for sale is a rare, historically significant 1870s oversized cabinet card photograph capturing a bustling civic or military parade moving down Nicollet Avenue in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
The right side of the street features a prominent multi-story commercial brick building anchored by the storefront of \"Hause and Davis Boots and Shoes,\" a premier footwear establishment known to operate at 245 Nicollet Ave during the late Victorian era. The image showcases incredible detail, including an overhead decorative triumphal arch across the street, heavy patriotic bunting, horse-mounted marshals, a uniformed marching band advancing in formation, and dense crowds lining the wooden boardwalks.
An exceptional piece of early Midwest documentary photography perfect for collectors of Minnesota history, urban street views, and 19th-century military/civic parade ephemera.Condition:Please review all images for detail and condition. Note the distinct vertical crease/fracture line present on the right side of the cardboard mount, which slightly affects the right portion of the image. The main subject matter remains clear and well-preserved.
