Circa 1853–1856 Holy Bible. Leavitt and Allen purposefully omitted exact printing dates from their family Bibles, the handwritten presentation inscription on the flyleaf provides an absolute anchor date. It notes the Bible was given to St. Paul's Universalist Church in La Crosse, Wisconsin, at its dedication by Rev. A. A. Miner, D.D.. History shows the First Universalist Church in La Crosse was built and completed in August 1866 (and formally renamed St. Paul's Universalist Church shortly after). This dated the printing of this specimen to sometime between 1853 and 1856.
The handwritten presentation inscription adds significant local historical value, directly linking this exact volume to the prominent early Universalist church of La Crosse and the notable Boston minister Rev. Alonzo Ames Miner.
