Antique 1/2 Gallon 9” M. Salzman Co Whiskey Jug, RCP Co Akron, Oh For Sale

This handsome 1/2 gallon stoneware whiskey jug features a classic salt-glazed finish with a rich, earthy tone and bold cobalt blue stenciling that reads "M. Salzman Co." Its sturdy ovoid form, single top handle, and glazed body reflect quality craftsmanship typical of late 19th to early 20th century American stoneware. It is in very good condition with only light age-appropriate wear, and 2 small chips, one on the handle and one on the rim, (see photos) making it both a collectible piece and a rustic decorative accent. Perfect for display in a farmhouse kitchen, vintage bar, or Americana collection. This piece is 9.75 inches tall and 5.5 inches wide.

M. Salzman Co. was a company known for its stoneware advertising jugs, particularly those promoting whiskey and featuring the slogan "Purity Above All". The company was founded by Morris Salzman, who operated saloons in Brooklyn and Buffalo, New York, from around 1905 to 1915. He later purchased the Empire Distillery and used these jugs to promote his brands of whiskey. The jugs are typically made of stoneware and date from the early 20th century, often bearing the stamp "M. Salzman Co." and the "Purity Above All" slogan.
