Ancient Roman Shield Boss/umbo Featuring Medusa 100AD Authentic EXTREMELY RARE For Sale

Shield boss with the studs or nails still intact. Encrustations and dirt minerals are formed on some of the surface. From these encrustations there is bronze disease in the form of dots. Good news is that the bronze disease is not wide spread and not going deep into the shield boss. The disease is only on the hardened encrustations. The holes at the front of the umbo where drilled mechanically recently to removed the spots where disease laid. The disease can be removed carefully mechanically or with other methods. The encrustations and dirt has been removed except for the hardened lumps which could cause damage unless removed professionally. The lumps are 100% natural and are not the cause of artificial aging. 9cm diameter. The patina is layered and has a green blue brown reddish blackish layers. Very rare exceptional piece. Would interest serious collectors. Private UK collection.
