1) Jealousy and ConspiracyHis brother, Set (the god of evil and violence), was jealous of Osiris. Set decided to remove him from power and seize the throne.
2) The BoxSet devised a cruel plan: he made a box/sarcophagus perfectly sized for Osiris and told people that the box was “made for the one who is right for him.” When Osiris sat inside, Set closed the box and poured him into the river or hid him in a way that made him invisible.
And so Osiris died (or his body disappeared).
3) Isis\'s SearchOsiris\'s wife, Isis, loved him dearly. When she learned what had happened, she began searching for him everywhere until she found the pieces of his body (in many accounts, she gathered them after Set had torn them apart).
In some versions, she used her magic to bring him back to life or to complete the burial rites.
4) Return and the HeirOsiris returned to life in a spiritual form/as the king in the afterlife, and Isis gave birth to Horus.
Horus grew up to carry his father\'s message: the restoration of justice.
5) The Conflict with SetA long battle ensued between Horus and Set. In the end—according to most accounts—Horus triumphed, or justice prevailed, and Set was defeated.
Thus, Osiris became the ruler of the underworld and a symbol of:- Death- Resurrection- The survival of justice after injustice
