Ames Civil War Model 1840 Musicians NCO Sword w/Scabbard For Sale

US Civil War Model 1840 Musicians Sword with Leather Scabbard. The ricasso is marked "Made by Ames Mfg. Co", over "Chicopee" and the reverse "U.S." over "F", the rest has been scratched off. The side of the knuckleguard is marked "G.W.C.". The brass guard and grip are tight, there is some tarnish on the quillon. The blade is straight, unsharpened, the tip is sharp, a few very minor nicks along the edge, there are some light age spots scattered throughout, and a little surface rust on one side of the ricasso. The leather scabbard is solid but has an almost break through spot that you will need to be cautious of, the stitching is mostly tight, the drag is marked "G.W.C.", and there are leather loss spots with light crazing scattered throughout. Washer is missing. Length of the blade is 28 1/4" (13/16" wide and 1/4" thick), the sword is 34 1/2", and in the scabbard it is 35 1/4".
