American Mint American West -- Gold and Silver Coin Commemorative Bowie Knife in Display Box with Sleeve, COA

While this collectible is basically new in the box, we're calling it "used" as it is several years old.   The display box has a rough end on the faux wooden box lid, and it doesn't open nicely. It is not attached across the whole back of the box.  This is a commemorative knife only; it's meant for collecting and display, not for actual use.  The blade is made from 420 Stainless and is marked "P.R.C" -- People's Republic of China.  Still, it is a pretty awesome collectible.  The blade is 7 1/8" long and the knife is 12" long overall.  

The American Buffalo Gold Bullion Coin was the first gold coin struck by the U.S. Mint to be composed entirely of .9999 fine gold (24k). Produced at the West Point Mint, these exquisite coins are amodified version of one of the most distinctive coins ever created: James Earl Fraser's beloved Buffalo Nickel. 

When Fraser was creating his masterpiece in 1912, he wanted to design a coin that could not be mistaken for crrency from any other country, so he insisted on using images that were unmistakably American. Raised in the Midwest, Fraser drew his inspiration from the American Plains of his childhood. His creation featured the all-American imagery of a Native American chief on the obverse and an American Bison on the reverse. The Buffalo Nickel -- and subsequently the American Gold Buffalo -- prove that Fraser's vision perfectly captured the spirit of the American West. 

This limited edition bowie knife features ebony wood grips inlaid on both sides with 24k gold-layered reproductions of the American Buffalo Gold Bullion Coin, and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.
