African Carved Wood & Feather Luba Divination Rattle For Sale

Luba Divination Rattle from Zaire was utilized by Witch Doctor to summon Spirits. Acquired in 2009 from Arte Primitivo Gallery, NYC. This example probably dates Mid 20th Century and is custom mounted on wood base with 2 old labels. "LK-3", might be Leonard Kahan who had an African Art Gallery on Broadway in Soho Art District-NYC. 2nd label reads " 1862-25, which is an inventory number. This 7" long rattle includes a 3" long carved female bust surmounting double gourds covered with applied feathers. The Luba handle had typical elongated face with coffe bean eyes and open mouth. Carved crown had 2 horizontal carved motifs on reverse. Nice example at great price. No Returns, as I am breaking up my old collection. Free Shipping and Insurance.
