Abraham Lincoln Picture, 1860 Newspaper & Ad of his First Presidential Campaign For Sale

This unique framed grouping of Abraham Lincoln memorabilia was purchased from the Kenneth R. Laurence Galleries thirty years ago. It includes a lithograph of Lincoln from 1860, an 1860 Advertisement from his first Presidential Campaign, as well as a May23, 1860 \"Evansville Journal\" Newspaper enclosed in a plastic sleeve, slipped in a pouch on the back of the frame (see picture). The May 23, 1860, Evansville Journal is significant as that is the date Abraham Lincoln officially accepted the Republican Convention Nomination of him for President. ( Lincoln had been notified May,18, 1860 of his nomination.) As tempting as it has been, the \"Evansville Journal\" in the plastic on back of the frame has never been taken out since this artifact was purchased. It has remained in archival condition since purchase. The over-all Burled-looking frame measures 18\" by 15.5\" and has Gold matting around the Abraham Lincoln picture and Gold matting around the Campaign Advertisement. A placard is also framed on the front stating, \"ORIGINAL 1860 ADVERTISEMENT FOR ABRAHAM LINCOLN\'S FIRST PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN.\" These items are placed on a background of an old \"Evansville Journal\" Newspaper dated September, 21, 1868. This is NOT to be confused with the Evansville Journal Newspaper described earlier which remains in the pouch on the back of the frame. Also, note on the back of the frame is a Certificate of Authenticity signed by the Curator from Laurence Galleries. This would make a wonderful gift for any collector of memorabilia of U.S. Political History or Abraham Lincoln.
