Up for sale from a local estate is this authentic antique military veteran grave marker and cemetery flag holder. It appears that a previous owner has applied clear varnish on the front to preserve it.
These cast-metal star plaques were placed next to a soldier\'s headstone by fraternal veterans\' organizations to honor their service.The back of this cast bronze marker features integrated loops designed for dual purposes: the bottom boss accommodates a mounting rod/ground spike, while the upper loops serve as a flag holder built to hold a standard 12\" x 18\" American stick flagon a 3/8-inch wood dowel.
*LETTER SYMBOLS: F, C, L(Fraternity, Charity, Loyalty) motto of the GAR (Grand Army of the Republic).
