ANTIQUE RARE SIMPLEX T-212 TOASTER TESTED!
The Simplex T‑212 toaster was produced in the early 1910s, with most examples dating to about circa 1915, according to WorthPoint.
This model was made by the Simplex Company of Chicago, Illinois, and is considered one of the earliest of American electric toasters. It features spring‑tensioned doors with wooden knobs to prevent burns, ceramic heating elements, and a cloth‑covered power cord.
Because the T‑212 is a rare and distinctive design, surviving units are often sought after by collectors and are valued for both their historical significance and their original working condition.
The Simplex Electric Heating Company, manufactured heat-generating electric appliances until it was bought out by the Edison Electric Appliance Company in 1917.
This toaster has not been cleaned and reflects decades of careful use by my grandparents, at least until the 1960's.
