This ANTIQUE ROUND BRASS TRINKET BOX features a GENUINE SCRIMSHAW LID with a HAND-CARVED PORTRAIT OF MARTHA WASHINGTON on the top. It is made of high-quality brass with a decorative scroll pattern around the top. Its origins can’t be traced back to any particular date or country. It is 4-1/2” wide and 1-1/2” tall. Considering its age, this box is in VERY GOOD CONDITION. However, there is ONE SMALL DENT IN THE BRASS, as shown in the 6th photo. The age of the piece is clearly apparent by the underside of the scrimshaw as shown in the last 2 photos.This is an unusual one-of-a-kind piece that should be OF INTEREST TO COLLECTORS OF SCRIMSHAW, MARTHA WASHINGTON MEMORABILIA AND ANTIQUE BRASSWARE.
