ITEM DESCRIPTION : INCREDIBLY RARE ANTIQUE FOUNDRY CAST IRON SET (2) EXQUISITE ELEPHANT BOOKENDS. Intrinsically detailed. Exceedingly rare. Seldom seen as a pair offered for sale. Has foundry imprint marks…..made in USA ….circa 1927 …..era correct design - not mirror images… One elephant looks one way, and the other elephant is facing the other way….trunks are downturned in a natural pose. HAND PAINTED - original paint is in very good condition (Commensurate with great age - natural wear patterns from a century of handling) One tiny corner of one base of one elephant has paint loss. Approximate dimensions are 5 inches high by 6 1/2 inches wide by one and 1/2 inch deep …heavy and substantial. Will become a beloved family heirloom for multi generations.
