ANTIQUE GRAND TOUR SOUVENIR WATCH FOOTED BOX CASKET BEVELED GLASS ORMOLU EX-COND For Sale

This is a wonderful French antique souvenir box displaying a Paris scene which I think, but I am not certain, is the Grand Palais. This box, from the late 1800's, was intended to house a pocket watch, but the interior hook is missing. This casket features beveled glass, fancy brass ormolu, and is footed. This box measures 2 5/8" across, 1 5/8" wide and stands just 4 1/2" tall (to the top of the roped metal handle). Thick beveled glass appears on three sides and the bottom and is in great condition; the back is metal. The clasp rests in the metal hinge and closes securely. The colors of the reverse painted scene are vibrant, and the representation is in great condition. A treasure for those who love these souvenir boxes.
