This is an antique, finely crafted Albert-stylevest-pocketwatch chain from the Victorian or Edwardian era. The initials D.F.B. Co. (D. F.Briggs & Co.) appear on the clasp, and those markings not only guarantee ahigh standard of quality but also indicate that the piece is almost certainlygold-filled. During the late 1800s and early 1900s, manufacturers ofgold-filled pocket watch accessories were not legally mandated to stamp aspecific karat purity. At the end of the T-bar assembly fob is a black onyxmedallion with an intricately executed Masonic emblem affixed to it. The unique“bar & link” 13-inch chain is a finely detailed work of art in and ofitself, and because it does not bear any Freemasonry symbols, it has its own nicheof artistic possibilities. This exceedingly beautiful vintage watch chain isfrom the estate of the daughter, or possibly granddaughter, of the originalowner. It is in beautiful condition with no flaws nor damage that I cansee. It would certainly enhance any collection of Freemasonry items.
