ANTIQUE 1871 LETTER RICHARD HENDERSON BUGGYMAKER BEAR CREEK HENRY COUNTY GEORGIA: $19.99
7 3/4" by 9 3/4" ecru paper dated May 18 1871, sent to hardware merchants in Macon from R A Henderson in Bear Creek (Hampton), Georgia.Bear Creek (or Bear Creek Station) was established in 1848 as a stop on the Macon & Western Railroad. The town was incorporated in 1872 and the name was changed to Hampton in 1873. The letter says that Mr Henderson is once again engaged in manufacturing buggies and is ordering some materials for that purpose. Richard Andrew Henderson (1827-1901) appears in the 1870 census of Henry County as age 43. Ink is a little faded and the paper is faintly soiled.
