Carnival glass is early 20th-century iridescent pressed glass, made by companies such as Northwood, Fenton, Imperial, Millersburg, Dugan, Indiana, L.E. Smith, Wheaton, Westmoreland, and many others It was produced from around 1905 to1930, mainly in the USA, with later examples made in the UK, Europe, and Australia.
It was revived in the 1960s and these pieces are referred to as "Revival Period Carnival Glass"
It is recognised by its moulded patterns, hand-finished shaping, and its distinctive rainbow iridescent surface, created by applying metallic salts to hot glass. Pieces were made in many colours including marigold, amethyst, blue, green, smoke, white, and rarer shades such as aqua opal, lavender, and true red.
All of these items are from our personal collections which were accumulated in the 1990s. Sadly, it all has to go because we're moving to a much smaller house and won't have room for the extensive number of antiques & collectables that we accumulated over 30 plus years.
Smoke-free environment so there won't be any nasty smelly surprises when you unwrap your purchase!
Unfortunately for me, and great for you, many items now sell for quite a bit less than the purchase prices - oh well, can't win them all!
Please take a little time to browse my shop, Cambridgeshire Collectables, Lots more carnival glass, art glass, china figurines, antiques and collectables of all sorts, mostly in excellent or mint conditionthat will make wonderful gifts for family and friends.
