This vintage Baccarat Crystal Zurich Pattern Footed Decanter and Stopper is a beautiful and elegant addition to any barware collection. Handmade from clear crystal, this original piece features a classic design with intricate detailing. The set includes a decanter with one hole, making it perfect for all occasions. Signed by Baccarat, this collectible item is sure to be a standout piece in any kitchen or home decor.

The Baccarat crystal works in Baccarat, France, produced fine glassware and decorative objects starting in the eighteenth century under a decree from King Louis XV. Artisans made decanters like this to serve wine and spirits at formal dining tables, combining clear lead glass with hand-cut geometric facets that caught the candlelight. Craftsmen blew each vessel into a mold or shaped it freehand before cutting the patterns with rotating wheels and polishing the surfaces to a brilliant shine.

Wealthy hosts and hostesses used these decanters in dining rooms and parlors to hold port, sherry, or brandy during evening gatherings. Servants filled them from larger bottles in the pantry and placed them on sideboards where guests could admire the sparkling crystal before pouring a drink. As dining customs shifted toward casual entertaining and factory-made tableware in the late twentieth century, handcrafted crystal decanters were largely retired from daily use and became decorative display pieces.
