Offered here is an incredible group of 9 original World War II photographs showing the destruction and aftermath of the atomic bombing of Nagasaki, Japan.
Each photograph measures approximately 8 x 10 inches.
These photographs came together as part of a large military photograph collection I recently purchased. According to the identification and information accompanying the photographs, they were taken by a military photographer on October 24, 1945, just 76 days after the atomic bomb was dropped on Nagasaki.

The handwritten identification and information visible in some of my listing photos is written on the individual protective envelopes/sleeves holding the photographs. It is NOT written directly on the photographs themselves.
I have kept the photographs together as I found them.
THE ATOMIC BOMBING OF NAGASAKI
On August 9, 1945, the United States dropped the atomic bomb nicknamed "Fat Man" on Nagasaki, Japan. It was the second atomic bomb used in warfare, following the bombing of Hiroshima three days earlier.
Fat Man was a plutonium implosion-type atomic bomb developed as part of the Manhattan Project. It was carried by the B-29 bomber Bockscar. The mission's original primary target was Kokura, but conditions prevented the attack there, and the aircraft proceeded to its secondary target of Nagasaki.
The bomb exploded over Nagasaki with an estimated explosive yield of approximately 21 kilotons of TNT, causing catastrophic destruction and loss of life.
These photographs are identified as having been taken on October 24, 1945 — only 76 days after the bombing. They provide a sobering photographic record of Nagasaki during the immediate postwar period and aftermath of one of the most significant events of World War II.
