Lot of six vintage European hotel, travel and maritime luggage/baggage labels, including examples from Italy, Germany, Belgium and England.
A colorful group of original travel ephemera, apparently dating primarily from the early-to-mid 20th century. Included are:
* 2 Peter’s Bad-Hotel zum Hirsch – Baden-Baden, Germany luggage labels featuring a large stag/deer design.
* Hotel Splendid – Bruxelles-Nord, Belgium red hotel luggage label.
* County Hotel – Upper Woburn Place, London, England luggage label with an architectural illustration of the hotel.
* Grand Hôtel Lido – Lido-Venezia, Italy large green-and-gold hotel luggage label.
* M/N Amalfi – Soc. Partenopea di Navigazione, Napoli numbered Italian maritime baggage label, marked “Bagaglio N.” This is associated with the Naples-based Società Partenopea navigation company and is an especially interesting piece of Italian steamship/travel ephemera.
The Grand Hôtel Lido was one of the historic hotels of Venice’s Lido, while the Amalfi piece differs from the others in being a numbered ship/passenger baggage label rather than a hotel label.
These came together in an old collection and are being offered together as found.
Condition: Varies considerably. The two Baden-Baden labels are particularly colorful and attractive. Other pieces show age toning, edge wear, creases and/or old adhesive residue. The large Grand Hôtel Lido label has substantial creasing, tears, folds and other wear. The Amalfi baggage label has edge wear and age toning. Please examine the photographs carefully for the exact condition of each piece.
