La Paula Art Academy, which operated out of the historic Culwulla Chambers building at 67 Castlereagh Street, Sydney.
The Academy was active from the late 1920s through the 1950s, the academy specialised in male order and in-person courses for home crafts.
The speciality they were famous for, teaching French flower making, millinery (hat making), and glove making.
The bottles purpose, this specific liquid was involved in their " splendid working outfits" to stain fabrics, silks or leather when creating artificial flora and fashion accessories.
Definitely 1920s Amber glass. these glass bottles from the 1920s have several distinct design elements that solidify their origin from the 1920s era rather than the 1950s.
Deciding Factors include,
-The threaded metal caps, the short simple aluminium or tin screw caps (especially on the " Aniline Dye" bottle) feature primitive, shallow threading typical of the 1920s glass manufacturing transition from corks to screw tops.
- Typograply and Label design characteristic of the late Art Nouveau and early art deco styles of the 1920s.
- The historic street address 67 Castlereagh Street, Sydney, without post-dool code is highly indicative of pre-world war 2 commercial label printing.
SEE PHOTOS.
Items are in extremely good condition considering their over a hundred years old.
