The map is 10' wide (120") x 2' (24") tall, edge-to-edge. It was designed to be mounted horizontally so that its owner can walk its length at close-up eye level to see the incredible detail. No more stooping or standing on a ladder is necessary to view this map, unlike the ridiculous vertically-mounted Appalachian Trail maps. (The A.T. runs approximately southwest to northeast, not north to south, so a horizontal mount is just as appropriate as a vertical mount).The color scheme on this version of the map is a hypsometric background, meaning that the background terrain coloring varies with elevation.
