This listing is for three cards: all three of Simone Bianchi’s Legacy paintings for 2017 Fleer Ultra Spider-Man, each in the Gold Foil Web Autograph version, hand-signed by Bianchi and serial numbered to 49. Doctor Octopus (L7, 10/49), Electro (L8, 22/49) and Mysterio (L9, 10/49): three of Spider-Man’s founding villains in Bianchi’s ink-wash style, painted the year before Upper Deck handed him the entire 2018 Marvel Masterpieces set.
About the set
Fleer Ultra Spider-Man returned in May 2017 as an Upper Deck product that rebuilt the four 1995 Fleer Ultra designs with all-new art: a 100-card base set, five cards to a pack, twelve packs to a hobby box, also released on ePack. The Legacy inserts, painted by Greg Hildebrandt, Bob Larkin, Simone Bianchi and Luis Royo, sit in most packs; the numbered autographs, Precious Metal Gems and comic cuts sit above them.
The sketch cards are the top of the set: hand-drawn originals from 107 artists at one in eighty packs, roughly one for every seven boxes. There is no guaranteed sketch per box, which is why this release is considered one of Upper Deck’s stronger sketch-card sets.

- Each hand-signed on the card by Simone Bianchi, certified by Upper Deck on the back, with the gold foil web finish.
- Gold Foil Web Autograph is the only serial-numbered version of the Legacy insert, numbered to 49, and every one is hand-signed on the card by the artist who painted it. The unnumbered regular and Silver Web Foil Legacy cards are not signed.
- Twelve Legacy paintings in the set, three per artist: Greg Hildebrandt, Bob Larkin, Simone Bianchi and Luis Royo. The Legacy art is new for 2017; the subset name and layout are the tribute to 1995 Fleer Ultra Spider-Man.
The artist
Simone Bianchi is the Italian artist behind Wolverine #50–55, Astonishing X-Men with Warren Ellis, Thanos Rising with Jason Aaron and Thor: For Asgard at Marvel, and Seven Soldiers: Shining Knight and long cover runs on Batman and Detective Comics at DC. He works in ink wash and watercolor halftones, and in 2018 Upper Deck made him the sole artist of Marvel Masterpieces, the first Italian artist given the set. These three Legacy cards are his Fleer Ultra work from the year before. His companion Legacy trio, the goblins by Bob Larkin, is listed separately in our store.
