Rare investment opportunity!
1. Upper Deck released 3 Disney series in total. This 2003 chase card comes from the highly sought after first series. Only 100 sketch cards were inserted in Series One.
2. I’ve always loved these sketch cards because they’re drawn by actual Disney artists. I get tired of seeing sketch cards drawn by random artists with no association to the project.
3. Dorota Kotarba-Mendez was the Senior Character Artist at Disney. Her works include The Lion King, Winnie the Pooh among other films/shows.
4. No ratios were ever printed by Upper Deck but the first series only had 100 sketch cards in total. 10 Disney artists sent 10 sketch cards back to Upper Deck. I remember my friend opening 5 cases in 2004 and he did not pull a single sketch card. He only pulled film strip cel cards. I’m confident the ratio has to be one in tens of thousands of packs. Upper Deck went to town on printing presses that year because of Lebron. Everything was selling in 2004.
5. Upper Deck released 120 sketch cards in Series Two & Three. Series One sketches were mainly character focused while the other sets had themes like Christmas.
