Today I am offering this fabulous pair of vintage Mesa International Pottery Moose and Pine Tree Mugs Handcrafted in Hungary.
This is a hard-to-find highly collectible set of two vintage rustic moose and pine tree stoneware mugs.
They depict a noble brown moose on each side, with a speckled blue sky, and a grassy base.
The upper border and handles are decorated with pine trees, and the rims are accented with green.
The underlying color is creamy off white.
They are a matched set although each piece has slight differences because they are one-of-a-kind hand crafted items.
They each measure approximately as follows:
- 4\" high
- 3½\" across the top opening
- 5\" across including the handle
- They have a generous 15oz capacity
Entirely hand-decorated and slip-cast by folk artisans in Hungary during the late 1990s and early 2000s, these are the hand-painted variants distributed concurrently through Starbucks storefronts, matching those premium production runs completely in style, visual motif, and heavy clay composition.
Both pieces are authentic and uniquely artist-signed underneath the raw terracotta clay base, with one mug bearing the signature that looks like \"Majer\" and the other signed \"Maros!\", alongside their original reddish colored artisan workshop tally marks. Additionally each one has a faint incised mark.
They are in super vintage pre-owned condition with minimal wear.
Neither piece has any chips, cracks, flea bites, scratches, unsightly utensil marks, or stains.
The exterior glaze remains bright and glossy with no color loss.
***Please note there is light uniform, vintage glaze crazing in the interiors, which is completely typical for European earthenware of this era.
