2 INCH OTODUS TOOTH REAL SHARK SEA FOSSIL TEETH MEGALODON ANCESTOR EXTINCT LARGE:
$24.95

Otodus Tooth, Pre-historic Ancestorto the Megalodon, Large Genuine Tooth, Early Miocene, Worldwide Shipping

For sale is an Otodustooth. The Otodus was a large, pre-historicancestor to sharks like the Megalodon and the Great White Shark and is estimated to have been between 30feet – 40 feet long. This shark isbelieved to have existed during the, Eocene, Paleocene, and, Miocene eras. This tooth originates from Morocco.

The tooth itself measures about 2-2.5 inches long (5 to 6.35cm) long and may differ slightly fromwhat is pictured in the photos (each tooth is unique).

“Since the skeletons of sharks are composed ofbiodegradable cartilage rather than longer-lasting bone, often times the onlyfossil evidence of prehistoric species consists of teeth (sharks grow and shedthousands of teeth during their lifetimes, which is why they're so abundant inthe fossil record). That's the case with the early Cenozoic Otodus, whose huge(three or four inches long), sharp, triangular teeth point to a full-grownadult size of up to 30 feet, though we know frustratingly little else aboutthis prehistoric shark, other than that it likely fed on prehistoric whales, other, smaller sharks, and the abundant prehistoric fish that lived in theworld's oceans 50 million years ago.

Its fossilized teeth aside, Ototodus' greatestclaim to fame is that it seems to have been directly ancestral to Megalodon, the 50-foot-long, 50-ton predatory behemoth that ruled the world's oceans rightuntil the cusp of the modern era. (This is not to diminish Otodus' own place inthe record books; this prehistoric shark was at least one and one-half times asbig as the biggest Great White Sharks alive today.) Paleontologists haveestablished this evolutionary link by examining the similarities between thesetwo sharks' teeth; specifically, the teeth of Otodus show early hints of theflesh-ripping serrations that would later characterize the teeth of Megalodon.”

THE ITEM(S) WILL BE SHIPPEDOUT VIA STANDARD MAIL (DOMESTIC & INTERNATIONAL) (ESTIMATED SHIPPING TIME IS APPROXIMATELY 3-5 WORKING DAYS DOMESTIC AND 8-14 DAYS INTERNATIONAL DEPENDINGON COUNTRY AND LOCATION). THANK YOU FORLOOKING.
