Well, this one ain’t a cookbook.
Up for sale is an antique 1914 copy of The Book of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry by Charles T. McClenachan, revised and enlarged edition, published by Macoy Publishing & Masonic Supply Co. in New York.
This is a big old illustrated Masonic reference book covering the Scottish Rite degrees, ceremonies, symbols, regulations, glossary material, and all kinds of serious fraternal business that makes you feel like you should lower your voice while turning the pages.
It has that excellent “old book from a secret shelf” presence. Cover wear, spine wear, edge wear, scuffing, age toning, and general antique-book handling wear are present. It is over 100 years old and has lived a life. I have not professionally restored it, cleaned it, or page-counted every single page, so please review the photos closely.
What I can say is this: it is interesting, illustrated, substantial, and very much not something we were putting on the free table. Bando Larry inspected it, Kodi got distracted reading it, and everybody agreed this one deserved to be listed properly.
Great for collectors of Freemasonry, Scottish Rite material, Masonic history, fraternal organization books, antique reference books, Macoy Publishing items, or anybody who likes old books with symbols, ceremony, and just enough mystery to make your coffee go cold.
