2 Antique c1900 Ault & Wiborg Printing Ink Sample Advertising Trade Cards

DESCRIPTION

Offered together is a set of two original antique advertising sample cards from The Ault & Wiborg Company, a historic Cincinnati manufacturer of lithographic and letterpress printing inks.

Each card features an elaborate engraved view of the company’s principal works and offices in Cincinnati, Ohio, surrounded by ornate typography, the company crest and a list of international offices.

Measures: 6.5\" x 4.3/4\"

The two advertised printing-ink colors are:

• Brilliant Scarlet Lake — $3.00, stock number 510-99
• Burnt Umber — $1.50, stock number 193-56

A small “5/00” marking appears beside “Cincinnati, O.,” possibly indicating a May 1900 printing date. The cards are conservatively described as circa 1900.

These would make wonderful additions to a collection of antique advertising, printing history, graphic arts, Cincinnati memorabilia, typography or authentic paper ephemera.

CONDITION

Antique condition with expected age-related wear, including softened and worn corners, edge wear, light discoloration, minor stains and gentle waviness or curling. The Brilliant Scarlet Lake card has a visible small stain near the lower edge. The Burnt Umber card has corner and edge wear.

No significant writing is visible on the fronts. Please review all photographs carefully, as they are an important part of the condition description.
