VINTAGE "EL CARA" BARKCLOTH DRAPE PANEL
TWO PANELS AVAILABLE
EACH PANEL IS BEING SOLD SEPARATELY WITHIN THIS LISTING
Featuring an iconic Mid Century Modern abstract geometric design
Fluid mobile shapes and wire grills, done in rich shades of chocolate, espresso, tomato, and mustard, float and overlap across a cream ground embellished with metallic gold dot overlays
The fabric feels like cotton but may have a small amount of rayon in it
It is a sturdy medium decorator weight with a nubby, textured weave
Each of the two panels available measures 82" in width across the top, 80" in length, and open out to 156" in width across the bottom
These were constructed using three full width (selvages intact and marked: "EL CARA") panels and one partial panel
Piecing seams are somewhat matched but not perfect
The tops are finished with a reinforced triple French pleat header (15 pleats)
The hems are 6" deep
These are in wonderful vintage condition...the fabric is sturdy, strong and richly colored
The lining fabric was subjected to moisture, it is stained and tore during cleaning
Thankfully, the linings protected the barkcloth fabric from any issues
The pleats do need a steam ironing to reshape
There is some wear in a few places along the edge creases but nothing that I feel detracts.
These were soaked, gently laundered, and dried in the fresh Oregon sunshine
Replace or remove the lining fabric and enjoy as intended or repurpose the more than six yards of hard to find fabric into other fabulous decor projects
