Exceptionally rare and beautifully preserved 9-piece antique miniature/child's porcelain tea service dating to the mid-to-late 19th century.
Masterfully designed in the ornate Rococo Revival taste, this dimunitive set features a brilliant milk-white glaze accented by heavy, hand-painted bright gold leaf overlays depicting ferns and delicate hanging ginkgo foliage.
A spectacular design detail includes rustic, sculptural "twig and branch" branch-style handles and matching leaf-molded finials on the lidded vessels. The teapot stands at a dainty ~4.5 inches tall, making this either an upscale child's toy set of the Victorian era, a salesman sample, or a cabinet display cabaret service.
The undersides of the cups feature historical hand-incised sequential turner/mold tallies ("III") alongside machine assembly slots, identifying these as authentic high-quality factory porcelain blanks finished by an independent Victorian decorating studio.
