1996 Marvel vs. DC Comics Amalgam Trading Cards – COMPLETE 90-Card Base Set
Complete base set of 1996 Marvel vs. DC Comics Amalgam trading cards, featuring cards #1 through #90.
I open Amalgam boxes back in the day and collated these sets myself.
The Amalgam Universe was one of the most unusual and innovative crossover concepts of the 1990s. Rather than simply having Marvel and DC superheroes meet or battle one another, the two companies actually merged characters from their separate universes to create entirely new heroes and villains.
Famous combinations included Wolverine and Batman becoming Dark Claw, Superman and Captain America becoming Super-Soldier, Wonder Woman and Storm becoming Amazon, Spider-Man and Superboy becoming Spider-Boy, and Iron Man and Green Lantern becoming Iron Lantern. The project even presented these creations as though they were established comic-book characters with their own histories and mythology.
This 90-card set showcases the imaginative character combinations, artwork and story concepts created for this unique collaboration between Marvel and DC Comics.
