Original 1981 Sydney Dance Company programme from Sadler\'s Wells Theatre, London, covering performances from 29 September to 10 October 1981.
An especially interesting piece of international dance history as the programme identifies this engagement as the Sydney Dance Company\'s first London season.
The company was appearing during the influential Graeme Murphy era, with Murphy himself among the dancers listed in the programme. Other company members include Janet Vernon, Kim Walker, Susan Barling, Jennifer Barry, Neil Grigg, Kee Juan Han, Ramli Ibrahim, Tonia Kelly, Carl Morrow, Ross Philip, Victoria Taylor and others.
The programme contains details of the company\'s repertoire, including Viridian, Dialogues and Daphnis and Chloë, together with production information, dancer details and material relating to the company\'s London visit.
A particularly nice survivor from the early international history of Sydney Dance Company, documenting the Australian company arriving in London for its first season at one of Britain\'s most important dance venues.
This came from my late grandmother\'s extensive collection of theatre and performance programmes, gathered through many years of attending productions. Pieces like this are particularly appealing because they preserve not simply a performance, but an important moment in a company\'s history.
There are also contemporary handwritten annotations inside, apparently relating to casting/programme changes, which add further character and provenance to the copy.
A great addition to a collection of Sydney Dance Company, Graeme Murphy, Australian dance, Sadler\'s Wells or vintage contemporary dance memorabilia.

Thank you for taking a look at this item.
Every piece I sell comes from my late grandmother\'s remarkable lifetime collection, built over more than 70 years.
She began her career as an air hostess during the 1940s and 1950s, travelling the world and bringing home unusual treasures from every destination. Along the way she fell in love with my grandfather, a Swissair pilot, and together they shared a lifelong passion for collecting history, art, antiques and memorabilia.
In the 1960s she opened her own antiques business, a passion she continued until retiring at the incredible age of 92. She believed every object had a story worth preserving, whether it was a theatre programme, football programme, book, magazine or antique collected during her lifetime.
Today, I\'m carefully cataloguing and rehoming her collection, ensuring each piece finds someone who will appreciate it for many years to come.
If you enjoy items with genuine history and provenance, please browse my other listings. New treasures are added every day, and every purchase helps keep my grandmother\'s extraordinary collection alive for future generations.
