An exceptional, authentic piece of American mid-century studio craft history. This organic biomorphic weed pot vessel was hand-carved and turned by famed California artisan Doug Ayers in November of 1977.Crafted from a highly figured wild Black Walnut burl cap, the sculpture features a masterfully executed dual-texture design. The front face is meticulously sanded and polished to a smooth, glowing satin finish that showcases intricate swirling crotch grains and deep golden-amber tones. The reverse side dramatically preserves the rugged, knobby, and dimpled texture of the natural live bark edge.
