Vintage 1972 Richard Nixon re-election campaign lot of 4 original pieces. Great group of authentic Committee to Re-Elect the President / Young Voters material from the landslide year.
Included:
1. White plastic sun visor – “President Nixon. Now more than ever.” in blue and red. Marked on the underside “HOP CASSADY VISOR PAT. NO. D-206-191”. Shows expected age-related yellowing, light surface marks, and some discoloration (see photos). Still displays well and is a nice wearable/novelty piece from the campaign.
2. “Young Voters for the President” blue brochure – Bold diagonal white lettering with Nixon portrait and the quote: “For the first time in 20 years we are spending more on human resources than on defense.” – President Richard M. Nixon. Bottom banner: “INSIDE: NEW, GIANT FOLD-OUT POSTER FOR YOUR WALL.”
Includes the large colorful fold-out poster (eagle, Nixon with young boy on the White House steps, illustrated panels on environment, education, women, minorities, etc., and the slogan “PRESIDENT NIXON NOW MORE THAN EVER”).
Paper shows typical mailing folds, light edge wear, and some corner creasing/softening. The fold-out poster has folds and light age wear but is complete and colorful.
3. First Monday magazine – November 6, 1972 issue. Official Republican publication with full-color cover portrait of President Nixon. Contains contemporary campaign content, including pieces on young voters and other pro-Nixon material. Age toning and light wear consistent with a 50+ year-old periodical.
4. “Promise and Performance” booklet – Black-and-white cover portrait of a smiling Nixon. Campaign literature highlighting the administration’s record. Shows light handling wear and age toning.
One piece notes it was paid for by the Nebraska Committee for the Re-Election of the President (P.O. Box 5577, Lincoln, Nebraska; George B. Cook, Chairman; E. J. Faulkner, Treasurer).
All items are original 1972 campaign pieces in used/vintage condition with the expected folds, creases, edge wear, yellowing, and minor staining for paper and plastic of this age. Please review all photos carefully for exact condition—sold as shown. No returns based on condition once received.
